Joy Curriera brings her exceptional leadership and business experience over a 32-year military career to her role as a Nally Ventures Senior Leadership Advisor and coach, empowering individuals and teams to excel in complex, challenging, fast-paced environments.
Who better to train, coach, advise, inspire, and lead others on their leadership journey than a U.S. Army Brigadier General (Ret.) who, among other achievements:
- Led the nation’s premier graduate school for the study of resourcing national security, overseeing an evolving education program preparing nearly 900 students representing the U.S. government, 39 countries, and private sector industry partners for strategic leadership roles
- Administered processes for the U.S. Army’s $6 billion military construction program, a $4 billion BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) program, and a $50 million internal budget
- Advised the Army’s top leadership on personnel matters pertaining to the utilization of the Army’s 3,300+ Colonels
- Led all Army installation support activities in Japan, the first female commander to do so, serving as a catalyst for positive change, building and sustaining trust while forging relationships with key Japanese civil and military leaders and leading over 2,400 soldiers and civilians
- Led a specialized HR team to identify and integrate best HR-Enterprise business practices across the total Army
These are just a few of Joy’s many accomplishments that have informed her own development as a leader—wisdom she now imparts to leaders and professionals at all levels. She has a deep desire to pay it forward and a passion for empowering others to unlock their full potential. With the personal leadership mantra “Ever Forward,” first shared by a military mentor of her own, Joy continues to inspire and guide others to successfully lead with their best selves.
Joy has a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and master’s degrees in Human Resources Management (Webster University) and National Security Strategy (National War College). She is a certified Executive Coach through the Center for Executive Coaching. Joy makes her home in the Washington, D.C./ Northern Virginia area.
